Markovburg is the capital city of Markovia. On July 28th, Team Year Six, Princess Tara Markov was kidnapped by the Bedlam Syndicate, secretly led by her uncle, Baron DeLamb, and taken to the meta-human trafficking ring's laboratory under the Markovburg Children's Hospital in Markovburg. In early August, she was meta-activated. In early September, she taken to Santa Prisca by Deathstroke. On July 4th, 22:16 EEST, Team Year Eight, Ana von Furth was meta-activated in the Bedlam Syndicate's laboratory under the Markovburg Children's Hospital by Simon Ecks and she was codenamed Plasma. At some point later, Ana's brother Otto von Furth was also meta-activated then codenamed Plasmus. On July 28th, 08:59 EEST, King Viktor Markov and Queen Ilona DeLamb-Markov held a press conference on the second anniversary of their daughter's abduction. They announced new measures in response to the ongoing meta-human trafficking crisis and pledged their support for Quraci refugees flooding into Markovia to escape the oppression of Bialya.
On July 29th, 03:00 EEST, King Viktor and Queen Ilona were assassinated by Jaculi. Joe Henchy kidnapped Gabrielle Daou after she performed her part and took her back to Bedlam's laboratory. He preferred to shoot her but Dr. Jace administered an overdose of morphine to kill her. On the evening of July 30th, Prince Gregor Markov's pre-coronation reception was held at the royal palace. At 19:23 EEST, Grayson and Crock arrived at Markovia's airport with falsified passports and posed as a couple invited to the reception while Jefferson Pierce and Conner Kent infiltrated the country on Super-Cycle. Ambassador Baazovi announced Markovia categorically forbid any vigilantes from entering the country. Dr. Simon Ecks drove Brion Markov to Markovburg Children's Hospital. Grayson followed while Crock headed to the northwest corner of the Markovian National Cemetery to suit up.
Conner Kent and Jefferson Pierce found Bedlam's lab and started planting miniature cameras but discovered it was shielded from comms. They discovered four trafficked teenagers in Metamorphosis Pods filled with Tar and a murdered Mother Box. Count Vertigo blasted them then dispatched Plasmus. Pierce froze because of Plasmus' resemblance to Plasma, who he accidentally killed on Rann. Kent was grabbed and worked through the burning pain to punch a hole in the ground, taking them into the sewers. Vertigo gave Plasmus the option to get them or kill them. Johann Mintz, Piotor Platz, and Joe Henchy buried the latest who failed to meta-activate in Bedlam Syndicate's lab and died. As usual, they used the mass grave in the Markovian National Cemetery. However, the body of Gabrielle Daou was revived by the spirit of Mother Box. Platz and Mintz simply tried to cover the grave faster. Crock observed a violet light and drove off on a mechanized unicycle to investigate. She encountered Henchy, Platz, and Mintz at the grave site. She easily defeated Platz and Mintz and watched as a girl they were trying to bury generated a forcefield.
Crock took the girl back to Super-Cycle and sussed out she could speak English but had amnesia. Plasmus caught up to Kent and Pierce at the sewer outlet. Pierce jumped but hit underwater rocks and lost consciousness. Plasmus dragged Kent back to the lab. Grayson hailed Crock on comms and told her to locate Jefferson Pierce. She located him unconsious near a river. In the lab, Vertigo removed Kent's mask and recognized him as Superboy. Ecks brought Markov to the lab and the latter was aghast at the site of a meta-trafficking ring. Vertigo blasted him unconscious and berated Ecks. After Pierce came to, he briefed Crock on the situation. Ecks claimed he was just following orders. Vertigo decided to verify his claim but learned from Henchy about one of the corpses coming to life and being rescured by a girl in combat gear. In the subject room, Dr. Jace meta-activated Markov with the Tar protocol. Vertigo reported to DeLamb their operation was compromised. On July 31, 00:02 EEST, Crock and Pierce entered a sewer outlet that led to the Bedlam Syndicate's base.
Vertigo was further aggravated upon discovering Jace's betrayal and blasted her. Baron DeLamb arrived. Crock and Pierce were attacked by Plasmus but were saved by the girl and Super-Cycle then flew to the base. Baron DeLamb ordered a retreat and Vertigo boomed the shipment of meta-humans out of the lab. Nightwing liberated Markov and Kent. Jace showed Nightwing which chemicals to mix to cause an explosion. Bedlam took one of the camera discs and departed the base in his monorail. Nightwing's team departed on Super-Cycle and the base blew up. However, things got complicated when Prince Brion Markov manifested meta-abilities at the shoreline outside and went after DeLamb for framing him. Count Vertigo, Henchy, Ecks, and Plasmus boomed to them and a battle spilled out. Grayson sent Kent to the palace after Markov. Grayson generated a smoke screen to even the playing field. Crock managed to take out Count Vertigo with a net trick arrow and soon learned the girl could heal herself even after suffering a devastating wound from Plasmus.
Pierce became enraged and his powers reactivated. He noticed a Control Chip on Plasmus and destroyed it. Plasmus remembered his sister and being manipulated by Ecks. He helped destroy Ecks's clones. Grayson found the prime Ecks and knocked him out. All the clones dissipated. Vertigo and Henchy retreated into a Hush Tube. A bystander named Nikolas Stofka mistook Plasmus for a monster and shot him through the heart. Pierce blasted his rifle and yelled at him he killed a child. Halo confirmed she could not heal Plasmus because there was no life present. Kent returned with Markov. In the aftermath, DeLamb was arrested and Brion Markov was banished. Grayson had no interest in taking responsibility for Jace, Markov, or the girl. Crock took the latter home with her to Star City, Kent took Markov to Happy Harbor, and Pierce took Jace to Metropolis. On August 1st, 10:37 EDT, Gregor Markov's coronation took place in Markovburg. On September 29th, 11:33 EEST, King Gregor Markov held a press conference announcing Quracis would be allowed to stay in Markovia to honor his late parents' humanitarian principles but he refused to comment on lifting the meta-human ban or not and stressed the need for patience.
On February 15th, 05:45 EET, Team Year Nine, Count Vertigo boomed to the Markovian National Penitentiary and freed Baron Bedlam and Dr. Simon Ecks. Bedlam staged a coup a few hours later. On February 16th, 01:33 EET, a joint Team-Outsiders mission was dispatched to Markovburg. Bio-Ship, with Gamma Squad (Miss Martian, El Dorado, Wonder Girl, Thirteen, Static, Blue Beetle, and Kid Flash) aboard, crossed the Vlatavan border into Markovburg then stopped Dr. Ecks from executing loyalists to Gregor Markov. Beta Squad, consisting of Geo-Force, Beast Boy, Terra, and Cyborg, took a Boom Tube to Markovburg and backed up Alpha Squad at the royal palace. At 1:54 EET, Pete Danbury started recording the battle between Bedlam and Geo-Force in the courtyard. El Dorado applied an Inhibitor Collar to Dr. Ecks while Wonder Girl helped the loyalists out of the mass grave they were forced to dig. Miss Martian hailed Beta Squad on comms for an update. The coup ended after Geo-Force executed Baron Bedlam, took the throne for himself, and banished the Justice League, Team, and Outsiders from his country.
On February 21st, 17:37 EET, Dr. Jace had returned to Markovburg and Baazovi influenced King Brion Markov to give her another chance. By February 27th, Infinity Inc. relocated to Markovia and went to the royal palace to pledge loyalty to King Brion Markov. On April 19th, 20:02 EEST, Team Year Ten, King Brion Markov issued a statement from Markovburg to reaffirm Markovia welcomed all meta-humans across the planet. On September 9th, 21:21 EEST, the Infinitors responded to a group of anti-meta Markovians on a vehicular pursuit of Lizard Johnny in Markovburg. Geo-Force formed a circle of magma around Johnny and advised them not to kill Johnny as they planned. Trajectory disarmed them. Fury knocked two of their heads into each other then threw Kobold at a third who was pinned to the ground. Wilhelm Vittings, the ringleader, ran into the nearby forest. Geo-Force ordered Kobold and Trajectory to watch the defeated gang while he and Fury chased after him. They ran into Everyman who apologized and reported no one was around except him.
Geo-Force was irate and unaware that Everyman had posed as Vittings. Zviad Baazovi used his psychic powers to make Geo-Force forget about losing Vittings and focusing on the bigger picture of sending a powerful message to the radical anti-metas trying to force metas out of Markovia. Geo-Force addressed the press and stated Markovia was still welcoming meta-humans and promised they had a home there and would be protected by the Infinitors. On September 10th, 02:48 EEST, the Infinitors returned to the royal palace with Lizard Johnny. Markov and Fury later went to the Markov Family Meta-Human Youth Center in search of Johnny. Fury pulled up to Everyman and Trajectory on her motorcycle in front of Minister Josef Mueller's house for an Infinitor mission. Trajectory emphasized Markoiva must remain a safe haven for meta-humans. Mueller agreed then wondered if their visit was because he asked King Markov if their policy was poaching meta-humans away from the Justice League.
Trajectory told him it raised a larger question of how they could be sure he and his family would remain loyal when they didn't have the Meta-Gene. Everyman recalled he had a wife and two kids, all asleep upstairs, then he shifted into his battle mode form. Fury pulled him back and asked what he was doing and ordered them to stop. Trajectory suggested they move to Vlatava. Everyman complimented Fury on improvising and holding him back since it made Mueller think she saved his life. He laughed. Trajectory mused he was packing his bags. They both laughed. Fury found none of it amusing. Halo boomed to the palace to make one last attempt at making amends with King Brion Markov but Baazovi's interference ruined it and she left. On November 9th, 18:17 EET, a squad of robots in power suits broke into the Markovian National Penitentiary and liberated Count Vertigo, Dr. Simon Ecks, Johann Mintz, and Piotor Platz.
On November 10th, 04:08 EET, Team Year Ten, Markov had a conference call with the Justice League, Team, and Outsiders. He stated none of them had permission to enter Markovian sovereign territory and implored them to leave the rescue mission to him and his Infinitors. He vowed to apprehend Count Vertigo and find Queen Vladek. They made their way to a group of 16 cabins in the woods of Markovia where Fury's sources tipped her off that the power-armored squad who broke Count Vertigo out of prison and kidnapped Vladek were seen. Geo-Force ordered Kobold and Everyman to go into stealth-mode and start their search with the first lighted cabin. Everyman turned into a North America raccoon while Kobold shrank and rode on his back. They peeked in through a window but were immediately spotted by Johann Mintz, Dr. Simon Ecks, and Piotor Platz. The power-armored squad attacked the Infinitors. Fury realized it was a trap and apologized. Geo-Force was nonchalant about it and told Trajectory to check every cabin and find Vladek.
Geo-Force raised a column of magma and ordered the Infinitors to engage. Everyman went into battle mode and leaped at one of the armorers. He was blasted into the forest with a sound wave. Kobold leaped on 14 and made them blast a comrade. Fury slugged several and mentioned Everyman could use some help. Trajectory returned with Vladek who asked Geo-Force to take her back to the royal palace. Geo-Force obliged her and left the Infinitors to close out the fight. Trajectory told Fury she was going to help Everyman and ran into the woods following the sound of his roar. She reported to Baazovi who was in the woods with Ecks, Mintz, Platz, and two of the armorers. Baazovi told 13 to turn off the recording of Everyman's roar. Fury and Kobold wondered why the squad suddenly stopped fighting and fled the area. Everyman turned into a bird and tried to follow them but could not keep up. The team returned to the palace later that night. Geo-Force was not happy to hear none of the kidnappers were caught.
