Barry Allen was born in 1975. While living in his hometown Central City, Missouri, Barry Allen got a degree in forensic science and was employed as a police scientist. Allen was a fan of Jay Garrick, the Flash. One day, he approached Garrick and the two spent hours talking about the Flash's adventures and the accident that gave him his powers. Allen decided to attempt to recreate the accident under laboratory conditions. It worked and Allen discovered he not only gained super speed but that he could go faster than Garrick. Inspired by Jay Garrick, he became the new Flash. After adjusting the best that he could to his powers, Allen crafted a normal-looking ring that housed his costume. Over time, the Flash amassed a Rogue's Gallery to rival Batman's composed of the likes of Mirror Master, Captain Boomerang, Weather Wizard, Heat Wave, and Captain Cold. He also became infamous for his sociable behavior at crime scenes, even with the criminals he captures. At one point, he met the Green Lantern Hal Jordan.

In February 2003, Flash and six other heroes stopped an Appellaxian invasion. The Flash was a co-founder and the 4th member of the Justice League. In 2006, Allen married his girlfriend Iris West. Two years later, Allen's nephew, Wally West, discovered his secret, he declined the offer to take West on as a sidekick. Allen simply didn't want the responsibility. However, West gleaned enough of Allen's journals to try to recreate the accident on his own. West blew up his parents' garage and spent several weeks in the hospital. Allen could only blame himself. Then West revealed he did gain super speed. Allen reluctantly accepted West as his sidekick, codenamed Kid Flash. Years later, on July 4th, at 11:03 Central Daylight Time (CDT), Flash, now 35 years old, and Kid Flash defeated Captain Cold while the villain attempted to flee a diamond store heist. The duo were last to meet up at the Hall of Justice with their allies.

On July 7th, some time after 10:13:16 CDT, Flash and Superman arrived at the Central City Mall to find Kid Flash and Superboy, who were fighting the Terror Twins. The next morning, the Flash personally escorted Kid Flash and Superboy to Mount Justice. On August 3rd, Flash arrived to aid Green Arrow and Black Canary in defeating Amazo. On August 21st, he attended Kent Nelson's funeral. On August 27th, off-duty, Barry Allen and girlfriend Iris West attended Jay Garrick's birthday party at the West household. On September 7th, Flash encountered an escaped cheetah while on patrol. He summoned Kid Flash and lured the beast back to the Central City Zoo with a raw steak from the West family's refrigerator. They rescued the bystanders and isolated the other escaped animals. While clearing out the Reptile Center Lab, Flash noticed some concentrated cobra venom was stolen. Kid Flash found a footprint and obtained a non-local pollen sample from it. Flash analyzed it in his lab and the results led the duo to Minneapolis.

On September 22nd, Flash arrived with other members of the Justice League to find the Cave invaded, the Team neutralized, and Red Tornado missing. He set out to help free Kid Flash and Superboy from their makeshift constraints. On October 2, 07:56 National Standard Time (NST), the Flash battled Plant Creatures in Taipei with Blue Devil and Captain Atom. On November 11th, Flash worked with Aquaman, Batman, Aqualad, and Robin to destroy a Flying Ice Fortress. On November 13th, Batman and Flash visited Belle Reve Penitentiary to investigate the five ice villains and their possible connection to the ice storms. In Team Year Five, on December 1st, the Flash unsuccessfully tried to vibrate through the spherical field that formed in Metropolis. A new plan was formulated. Martian Manhunter levitated Flash and together they hailed Brainiac's ship. Flash was not fast enough and Brainiac easily predicted his movements in advance.

In Team Year Six, on February 28th, 12:03 CST, Barry Allen hosted a 70th anniversary party for Jay and Joan Garrick. The party was interrupted by Impulse, Allen's grandson from 40 years into the future. He then learned Iris Allen was pregnant with fraternal twins who would be named Don and Dawn. Things got more complicated when Allen learned a new supervillain was terrorizing downtown and demanded a fight with the Flash. Flash confronted Neutron but was unable to get past his cascading energy waves. Flash was joined by Impulse and Kid Flash but they were unable to carry him out of the city. After Neutron detonated and reformed, Flash realized the energy waves now fluctuated for a micro-second. He ran off to carry Neutron out of the city but got tripped up by Impulse. Kid Flash and Jay Garrick ran them to safety. After Impulse neutralized Neutron, Nightwing confirmed Impulse's DNA matched Barry and Iris Allen's. However, after Flash and Impulse said their goodbyes, it was apparent the time machine was broken.

Once the Reach's additive was procured by the Team, the Flash and Atom ran an analysis and discovered a dopamine polymerase and an adrenaline inhibitor. On May 13th, Flash and Impulse helped rescue tsunami victims in Rhelasia. On May 30th, the Flash guarded the Crystal Key chamber in the Warworld with the Atom and Aquaman. On June 20th, Flash and Plastic Man were assigned to Gamma Squad. After the 20th was disabled, Flash raced to the North Magnetic Pole to disable the last Magnetic Field Disrupter. He was joined by Impulse but they were too late. The chrysalis energy was fully generated. Flash and Impulse followed Luthor's plan and ran counter to its energy flow to negate it with their speed trails. However, their combined kinetic energy still wasn't enough. Kid Flash joined in but his slower speed made him an exit valve for the chrysalis energies. Flash attempted to slow down but it was too late. In his final moments, Kid Flash asked Flash to deliver a message to Artemis for him. He attended West's funeral later in the month.

On July 27th, 19:57 EDT, Team Year Eight, Flash remotely attended an emergency Justice League meeting at the Watchtower. He was surprised and speechless when several members resigned in protest over the increasing restrictions put on the League by the United Nations. On September 10th, 12:01 PDT, Billy Batson and Barry Allen posed as Star City Stateville Penitentiary guards operating the vehicle transporting Brick and Shade to their secured flight to Belle Reve Penitentiary. Batson was visibly excited about the gig. Allen told him when he was at it as long as he has, he would love just getting through the day. Batson pointed out they were putting bad guys where they belong and asked him if he loved the gig. Allen admitted part of him did. Sportsmaster attacked their transport with an exploding javelin. The transport flipped and sailed over him. Allen changed into Flash using his Flash Ring and punched Sportsmaster while Batson turned into Shazam and caught the transport. Sportsmaster was not pleased to see them and threw out a hockey puck, to Flash's confusion. It emitted a sonic pulse and knocked Flash and Shazam back into a truck and the transport.

While Aquaman and Rocket dealt with Brick and Sportsmaster's associate Abra Kadabra, Flash and Shazam chased after Sportsmaster and Shade but by the time they caught up to them in an alley, they were gone. On December 31st, 09:00 CAT, the United Nations's climate conference in Bwundasa was interrupted by Shadows posing as the Bwundan Independence Front. With General M'Barra's permission, Secretary-General Lex Luthor called the Justice League for assistance. The Flash responded and immediately grabbed an arrow deflected by Garth's water construct before it hit G. Gordon Godfrey. Flash joked they didn't want to ruin those telegenic good looks. Flash quickly took out the rebels, tied them up, and piled them up then he checked on Kid Flash, who took the brunt of an explosion earlier. Kid stated he would be fine. Flash hailed the Watchtower on his comm and reported the Bwundian crisis was over and there was no need to send in reinforcements because he got an assist from the Outsiders. El Dorado took offense to his wording because they were there as a joint Team-Outsiders mission to protect the ambassadors.

Luthor used the situation to discredit the Outsiders and thanked the "real hero," the Flash. Flash deduced what was going on and stated the Justice League was always happy to help. He leaned in to Luthor and told him he would not be part of his dog and pony show then he zoomed off. On January 1st Team Year Nine, Flash joined in making a video with Jay Garrick and Kid Flash to show their support for the Outsiders and oppose Luthor's hero registry idea. Garrick posted it on his Flitter account. It was used on The G. Gordon Godfrey Show when Godfrey proclaimed Luthor was on the wrong side of everyone. On February 24th, 19:00 EST, Flash attended a meeting of the League, Team, Outsiders, and Batman and Nightwing's covert teams on the Watchtower. He voted for Black Lightning to be the next leader of the League. On September 14th, after 06:08 EDT, Team Year Ten, Flash was part of the group of Leaguers and Outsiders who arrived in Metropolis's Planet Circle to deal with Dru-Zod but discovered the conflict was already over and Superboy was alive.
