The Amazing Mumbo Jumbo is a man obsessed with showmanship. He acquired a wand and top hat empowered with magic. He committed daring crimes to showcase his forte. While in the middle of robbing the Yum Yum Kitty Diner, Mumbo encountered the Teen Titans. Instead of fighting, Mumbo was asked to perform a show. He took the opportunity to disable the Titans and attempted to leave. Raven punched out Mumbo and dumped him in jail. Mumbo was later seen performing the disappearing thumb trick at a pier. Raven, cursed with being nice at the time, complimented this magic trick.
Amazing Mumbo lived in a rent controlled apartment and his landlords later became the Teen Titans. To maintain the quality of the building, the Titans helped fix utilities. Mumbo was locked out of his apartment without his keys when he went to take a shower. Cyborg attempted to open his door to no avail and ended up making a hole in front of his door. He later drove him out by blasting at him all the way down the stairwell. During Crime Season, Mumbo tried to steal from an ice cream cart across the street. However, he pulled Starfire through his top hat. She blasted him with eye lasers. Raven grabbed Mumbo in the park with a giant hand construct then made another to force money out of him for taxes by repeatedly patting his head. During Christmas, Mumbo was at the Jump City Prison when the Titans broke Santa Claus out.
During Christmas, Mumbo went to a hardware store lot to look for the perfect Christmas tree to fit his studio apartment. However, he and the Titans decided on the same tree. They weren't moved by his touching story and he lost the tug-of-war over it despite using his magic but an exploding Batarang to the face clinched it. He vowed sweet revenge laced with cocoa. He disappeared into his hat and took off. While decorating at the Titans Tower, Cyborg found a top hat and put it on thinking it was like Scrooge's. He saw a pair of eyes in the hat and freaked out. Mumbo revealed himself. They attacked but Mumbo lowered their defenses by claiming he only came to give them a present. It was a tree topper that was in his family for generations. It was a perfect fit but it was a trap and the topper blasted and shrank the Titans. He tied them to the toy train tracks and left them to their deaths, changed into his pajamas and went to the kitchen to prepare cookies for Santa Claus.
Mumbo returned to find the Titans gone. He animated a Nutcracker and Robin's homemade Batman ornaments and ordered them to go into the tree after the Titans after the latter kept interrupting him with "I Batman." Mumbo eventually found them and took the topper away. Robin convinced the Ornament Batman to join their side. Together, Ornament Batman and the Titans pelted him with ornaments then Ornament Batman and Robin scaled Mumbo's pant leg. Robin fired a birdarang to knock the topper to the floor and shatter it. Mumbo accepted defeat and cried. The Titans offered to let him stay and celebrate Christmas since a big part of it was celebrating it with someone you despised. Mumbo was touched and conjured gifts for them - a Gingerbread house, a Joker-themed Nutcracker, a party car for the Christmas train, a jar of pickles, and a mini-Batsignal to light up the tree. The Ornament Batman saw the Batsignal and jumped Mumbo, punching at his head repeatedly.
