Episode 54 Review
Harley Quinn

Tensions are high between Harley and Ivy in the aftermath of Lena Luthor's ascension and just like she wanted, Harley and Ivy go off in separate directions but much to her folly, both realize the same Achilles' Heel they can exploit and get revenge once and for all. There's just the small matter of how to get to the space ship and Lena already bottled Metropolis. Two more episodes remain this season...

With the end of season five fast approaching, the pacing and storyline is ramping up. At 22 minutes, this week's episode "Family Feud" flies by. Even the quality of animation seemed better this week from Digital eMation. The only real critiques I had were eye rolling over Bruce being down in the dumps yet again from being ghosted and Ivy being all up in Harley's face about her mistake. Yeah, it was Ivy's grief talking but c'mon. Harley should have called you first? Really? Really.

While the blowup was a bit clunky, giving Harley and Ivy space for a week is a smart move heading into the season finale. It's the classic bit of your stars having some illuminating revelation that helps them solve the problem at hand. Paula Pell as a middle aged lady android was a glorious surprise. Priceless. Nick and Sharon Quinzel from season one! Nick continued to be the worst right until the end. Not only is he still down to kill his own daughter but he made sure not to waste the chance to make more money by harvesting her organs. It's fitting that he was killed by a stray bullet intended for Harley then gets a discount grave and his name taped to the headstone.

I was just starting to wonder if they would have Lex at all in this season but makes it makes sense he's the object of Lena's hatred and would be her one weakness. And wrap that up by Harley and Ivy realizing that weakness in their own ways. Because of Sharon "eulogizing" Nick and Ivy noticing Lena's journal while taking cover in her home office.

The teal comment, the salt store, mini horse idea, trying to sign in on a tablet, guessing the right version of Bruce's password, and Sharon having problems with the chair were all amusing bits. And the kisses on unconscious Lex's face in the backseat. Bravo. Though we know why, funny Bruce has Clark Kent in his contact list. And Nick's grave is by Clegg's who got killed off last season by Ivy by accident at the golf tournament.

So how to get to the Skull Ship. Fair to say it's a safe bet that Lex has a rocket or space ship. Though longtime DC animation fans might love to see this show pull off the stunt in "Alive!" from Justice League Unlimited and use the Hall of Doom to fly into space. If this season still has some shockers left up its sleeve, you have to wonder if they got it in them to finally kill off Lex in the ensuing showdown. Or will they even kill of Lena? The ultimate comeuppance would be to shrink and bottle her but we know there's another tool in Vril Dox's arsenal that could resurface in the finale, the memory eraser. Also, wouldn't it so be this show when all is said and done, Harley and Ivy forget Sharon on the Skull Ship and she shacks up with Vril?

"Family Feud" provides the appropriate breathing room between our two lead characters while positioning the season for its grand finale and unveiling a plausible strategy to take down the not-so-surprising-now-that-you-think-about-it big bad, Lena Luthor.
