The box set will be $99.99 SRP USA and $119.99 SRP Canada. The limited edition is 50,000 units total. 41 episodes have been fully-remastered from either their original 35mm film source or the uncommon format "OCND," the original camera negative digital (a digital scan of original negative). "Lines and resolution have been enhanced, and dust and dirt have been removed - however, cell dirt remains to not disturb the original picture. Included in the remastering was the removal of grain, resulting in enhanced colors. The remastering process does cause a slight aspect ratio change (approximately 3% loss of screen image). Due to time-worn irreparable damage, the remaining 11 episodes were "Smart Rezzed" from standard definition Digibeta video. The process provides for significant enhanced resolution and improvement of the original source material in converting from standard to high definition, though it does sacrifice horizontal lines for clearer image and color representation. While still a marked improvement over the original video, viewers will notice a slight difference between the Remastered and the Up-Rezzed final footage." The 11 affected episodes are: "Eyewitness," "Final Cut," "The Last Resort," "Armory," "Sneak Peek," "The Eggbaby," "Zeta," "Plague," "April Moon," "Sentries of the Lost Cosmos" and "Speak No Evil." • June 7, 2021: J.M. DeMatteis teases in the Justice League Unlimited episode "The Return" feeds directly into Justice League Infinity, the main seven appear, other characters you don't expect to see will appear, there's new characters, series is very packed with characters, they are continuing threads such as certain relationships carrying on, and it is set "maybe a couple years later". Creator Spotlight J.M. DeMatteis Interview, 1:00:35-1:00:40 and 1:01:50-1:05:47
  • June 30, 2021: James Tucker was first approached for Justice League Infinity well into the home quarantine era of the pandemic, he wasn't sure about doing it at first just because if it was right to do it without Dwayne McDuffie and Bruce Timm, he approached it as what would the show have done had it continued, he recommended bringing in J.M. DeMatteis, DeMatteis does the lion's share of the writing, Tucker describes his duties more like what he did as a producer on JLU - a consultant suggesting ideas, talking about the threads left hanging, this is how this can tie in, tweaking a line - rather than as a co-writer, watching Justice League vs. Fatal Five helped convince him to agree to do the comic, and a bit of the paranoia from the pandemic translated into the comic. • July 2, 2021: First 3 pages of Justice League Infinity Issue #1 released. DC Blog
  • July 6, 2021: Interview with James Tucker and J.M. DeMatteis about Justice League Infinity. Andrew Marino pitched a premise to Tucker that intrigued him and he came on board. When Marino talked about the multiverse idea, Tucker remember one of the thoughts the Justice League Unlimited crew had an idea to send the League into space on a quest in case they were renewed again. Tucker saw kernels of that idea in Marino's pitch and DeMatteis fleshed it out. The theme of identity runs parallel with Amazo and J'onn in this series. Series will touch on Batman and Wonder Woman and John Stewart, Shayera Hol, and Vixen. Series is more focused on the core 7 than the whole League. There is an upcoming issue that Ethen Beavers just turned in that gets very Kirby-esque and is centered on Wonder Woman. CBR Article
  • July 6, 2021: Interview with J.M. DeMatteis about Justice League Infinity. DeMatteis re-watched Justice League on HBO Max to refresh himself on the series. There's an alternate universe version of the Justice League, that he never even knew about and not been used very much. He and Tucker "took those characters and pumped them up and expanded them and they’ve become very, very important, especially a few central characters on that other team, become very, very important to the story." There's another AU Justice League that he had so much fun with, he'd love to spin them off into their own series. Darkseid appears but may be an AU version. AIPT Article

  • May 7, 2019: Five new DC Showcase shorts will release over 2019-2020. They will feature Sgt. Rock, Death, Phantom Stranger, Adam Strange, and Batman: Death In The Family. Still of Rock included. Death In The Family will be a long-form animated short anchoring a compilation set releasing in late 2020. Each short opens with a new, live-action branding sequence with easter eggs. Sgt. Rock is executive produced and directed by Bruce Timm and a script by Louise Simonson & Walter Simonson and Tim Sheridan. Battle-weary Sgt. Rock thought he saw everything that World War II can dish out. But he is in for the surprise of his life when he is assigned to lead a company consisting of legendary monsters into battle against an unstoppable platoon of Nazi zombies. Voice cast is Karl Urban as Sgt. Rock, Keith Ferguson, William Salyers and Audrey Wasilewski. Adam Strange is produced and directed by Butch Lukic, story by Lukic, and written by J.M. DeMatteis. On a rugged asteroid mining colony, few of the toiling workers are aware that their town drunk was ever anything but an interplanetary derelict. But when the miners open a fissure into the home of a horde of deadly alien insects, his true identity is exposed. He is space adventurer Adam Strange, whose heroic backstory is played out in flashbacks as he struggles to save the very people who have scorned him for so long. Voice cast is Charlie Weber as Adam Strange, Roger R. Cross, Kimberly Brooks, Ray Chase and Fred Tatasciore. Inspired by Neil Gaiman's "The Sandman," Death is produced and directed by Sam Liu and written by J.M. DeMatteis . Vincent, an artist with unresolved inner demons, meets a mysterious girl who helps him come to terms with his creative legacy... and eventual death. Voice cast includes Leonardo Nam as Vincent, Jamie Chung as Death, Darin De Paul, Keith Szarabajka and Kari Wahlgren. The Phantom Stranger is executive produced and directed by Bruce Timm and is written by Ernie Altbacker. Set in the 1970s, the short follows young adult Jess as she joins her friends at a party in a dilapidated mansion hosted by the mysterious Seth. When odd things begin to happen to Jess and her friends, the Phantom Stranger intervenes to save her from a dreary fate. Voice cast is Peter Serafinowicz as The Phantom Stranger, Michael Rosenbaum as Seth, Natalie Lander, Grey Griffin and Roger Craig Smith. All five new DC Showcase shorts include Jim Krieg as co-producer, Amy McKenna as producer, and Sam Register as executive producer. WF Article

  • March 26, 2020: Bruce Timm wanted to evoke a "Late 60s" vibe and aimed for 1969 for the setting of the short. In preparation for breaking the story with Ernie Altbacker and Jim Krieg, he re-read Phantom Stranger comics and happened to notice the first issue of the second series was published in 1969. Everything clicked after that. Woodstock, The Manson Family, the Generation Gap, the first Led Zeppelin album, the first Alice Cooper album, Flower Power, the first issue of Vampirella, "Turn on, tune in, drop out" Psychedelics phrase, the first season of Scooby Doo, and the first season of The Brady Bunch got mashed up. At his first record, Peter Serafinowicz said, "So I'm gonna do this with my own accent, right?" and the British accent worked with Phantom Stranger. Michael Rosenbaum asked Timm want he wanted for the Seth character. Timm described Seth as a cross between Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin and Jim Morrison of The Doors with David Cassidy's hair. Rosenbaum recalled Morrison's "I am the Lizard King - I can do anything..." Animesuperhero Bruce Timm post
